On Monday, February 25th, 2022, the Kingdom of the Netherlands officially announced the appointment of Mr. Micha Vosse as the new Honorary Consul for Antioquia, Córdoba, and Choco. The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday, February 23rd at Hotel Diez in Medellín, Antioquia, and was attended by over 100 members of the Dutch business community and Dutch Caribbean residents in the city, as well as significant figures from the Colombian private and public sectors, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bogotá, Holland House Colombia, and the Investment and Export Promotion Agency of Curaçao (CINEX).

The event began with opening remarks from His Excellency Ambassador Ernst Noorman, who emphasized the important role of the consul in the region due to the significant commercial ties with the Kingdom, the influx of tourists, and the support provided to patients from Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao in the area of healthcare. He also noted that as neighboring countries, Colombia and the Kingdom have developed important cooperation ties that have contributed to impactful projects in Colombia.

It is noteworthy that the region and Antioquia are of great importance to the Kingdom due to their special affinity with the Dutch Caribbean islands, attracting hundreds of tourists every year. Medellín has become an important destination for recreational, cultural, and commercial purposes, particularly in the IT and agribusiness sectors, which are strong industries in the region.
